Cephalexin is an antibiotic, used to treat many types of infections.

No, by now they have started to lose potency. Prescription tablets are only good for one year after the prescription is filled, after that they begin to lose efficacy.

That said, they may not work as well and you run the risk of creating anitbiotic resistant bacteria.

If you think you have an infection, you should see your doctor for a new prescription.
