Ibilex 500 Side Effects

My step mother started taking ibilex for an infection, 2 days later one side of her face became numb and slack, it looked liked she'd had a stroke. We took her to the hospital and they took her off ibilex and gave her steroids instead. She still has slight numbness and slackness to half her face a week later... do you know if this will go away in time? She's quite self conscious of it and convinced it's permanent. :(

Did they provide her with any specific diagnosis?

It sounds like she may have developed Bell's Palsy, if that is the case, the NIH states that most cases clear up within 1 to 2 months, odds are improved if a steroid is given within the first 3 days of it occurring. Though most people do recover without needing any treatment, at all.

The specific cause is unknown, but something usually causes an inflammation the affects the nerves on one side of the face, such as the herpes virus that causes cold sores.
