If no one has answered this question for you yet, allow me.
I have taken OTC-lo in 4 pack doses getting my period every 3 months, instead of every month for the past 7 years. I started with the Depo Shot, but it made my hair fall out, so my Dr. suggested doing OTC-lo this way. It's been wonderful. I have regular periods every 3 months, less cramping, less moody, and so much more convenient.
A little research will show you that OTC-lo actually is NOT a steady dose of hormones; it is Triphasic which means 3 weeks of varied doese. If I recall correctly it is a Medium does, a lower dose and then a higher dose. My Dr. suggested I try a different Monophasic pill (Yasmin, and then Yaz) which is the same does all the way through, and my body did not respond well, so I went back to the OTC-lo and have been fine since. My best friend, also on OTC-lo did better on Yaz, and switched.
If you are considering taking the pill this way, consult your doctor or practitioner; not just for safety's sake, but because they can also help you trouble-shoot any issues which may arise, and find the right hormone for your body and your life!
Also, do some research on your own and look at the side effects, and long-term effects of taking the pill this way. Every body is different, and you know yours better than I; find what works best and is safest for you. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions I may be able to answer for you.
