I Took Two Morphine 15 Abg. I Have Taken One Before, But Not Two. Will I Be Ok?

Ive taken small doses of opiods before,and one 15mg abg, but not on a regular basis. I was just wondering how long tye effects will last, amd when it is safe to drink. And what are warning signs I should look out for? I think im going to be ok though.

IThe drug is morphine sulfate extended-release, generic for MS Contin 15 mg tablets. It is odd you would be prescribed an extended-release medication if you are only taking it occasionally. MS Contin (and its generics) are used for people requiring continuous pain relief and is taken every 12 hrs.

MS Contin Extended Release lasts 12 hrs so that xx mg does of morphine is being slowly released rather than the full dose working immediately (but lasting only 4-6 hrs). MS Contin is NOT intended to be taken as needed so it may be a large enough dose but the fact you are not taking it for continuous use, or getting the level to a steady state, may make it less effective.

The half life of Morphine Sulfate is up to 4 hours dependent on your metabolism. After about 8 hours 3/4 of the dose should be out of your system, the rest tapers off over the next 12 hours or so.

The only urinary effects of morphine ever reported in the literature (and morphine has been used over a century) is urinary retention. If you are having kidney pain, it is probably not related to the MS unless you are unable to urinate. If that is the case then you should be seen so you can be catheterized to relieve the pressure,

The odds of you having any significant effects 12 hours after the dose is remote, unless you have a problem which prevents your body from metabolizing or excreting the drug.

Personally I'd lay off any alcohol for another 24 hours just to make sure all your internal chemistry has normalized.
