I Take Hydrocodone Every Day But Do Not Test Positive With Urine Tests (Page 2)

i had back surgery last year and i go to pain management. they prescribe me lortab 7.5 and neurontin which i take everyday. i go in once a month and have to take a urine test to prove that i am taking my meds. for the first few months i tested positive for hydrocodone. not anymore. i still take it just like i am supposed to but it doesnt show up in the test. my doctor says the only reason it would not show up is if i wasnt taking it. but i take it everyday. has this ever happened to anyone else? or does anyone know what would cause me to test negative?
yes, i just failed a test saying I am not taking My hydro or my Lyrica which i faithfully take everyday. they did a saliva test and it came back neg. now I am searching for a new pain clinic i am going through it too! It hurts being treated the way i am as if i am a liar.
I was denied any future hydrocodone from a pain specialist, two different tests showed none in my system. I went to a new doctor and now after my first urine test, again it was negative. I received a certified letter by mail today saying that my urine test was negative. Something is very wrong here because I take this everyday and although it's only 5 mg twice a day, I will be lost without it. He threatened to discontinue me, even after offering to send all my records to a new doctor. What is going on with me to make these negative results?
Do you take lasix? It will flush it out of your system faster than what the urine screen will catch. Ask for a blood test and have the hospital do the test not Ameritox.
The same thing is happening to me! My Dr. told me to go to pain Mgt. Dr. It happened again. They sent me a certified letter they were dropping me and to go to a rehab. That is ridiculous! If they think I'm not taking the Medes then why would they tell me to seek rehab.
I'm so angry that they are treating me as an addict or criminal. I think I'm going to contact an attorney to see if I have any recourse. Maybe it is a thyroid issue? Why would they not try to find out what the cause is? No additional testing, just urine test for drugs!
I do know exactly what I'm talking about. In 3 hours after taking hydrocodone half is metabolized already. So if you take it every 12 hours by the time you take the next pill the one prior is completely metabolized and gone from your system.
You have no clue what you are talking about!
I am going through this right now with my 16 year old son. he has been on lortab and Butrans for well over a month, every test has came back negative and it's to the point where we may be rejected for pain management. they are doing a DNA test and hopefully that will give some insight. It's very frustrating! I administer his pills and I know that he is taking them and he wears a patch 24 7.
Have you found a solution yet? I'm taking every avenue I can think of to prove myself concerning this & I'm running out of ideas. Is it possible to get your pills tested somewhere?
Angeldawn like I said below. The dose you are on is too low to reach the threshold for a positive result and if you have a fast metabolism. Hydrocodone in 3.5 hours is half gone another 3.5 half and so on an so on. It takes only 4 half life's before it is gone and at 5/325 even less than that. What's sad is these pain docs should know this. I hope this helps you understand.
I am going through the same thing! I have been on a very low dose of hydrocodone for 5plus years for chronic back pain- The doctor announced that my last 3drug tests of my urine test negative and looked at me with such distrust it led me to tears! And would not refill my prescription--Please anyone--what is the reason for this? This is so upsetting!
Tina most definitely. My Dr changed me because 7.5 three times a day wasn't enough to produce a positive test. Therefore there is no way 7.5 every 12 hours will reach the threshold for a positive result. Can you talk to your Dr about this. The lab doesn't know how much you take they just do the test
Thank u so very much for the reply, I'm taking 7.5-200 twice daily, do you think that could also be my problem too high of threshold? I'm nearly out of my mind trying to find answers!
Tina what milligram are you taking and how often. Reason why I ask is because I was taking 7.5/325 every 8 hours and was testing - Dr told me us because the threshold was to high for the 7.5 3x a day so he put me on 10/325 4x a day and now my test are fine. Goodluck
Did you ever get this resolved? I am going thru this right now, I know my Dr thinks I'm lying about taking my pills but I DO, I am even willing to be tested to find out why this is happening, have you gotten any results?
Nothing will make you negative at all unless you are truly NOT taking it
My urine test are doing the same thing. I m worried he will do the same thing to me because he made the comment glad to doing better. The only things I have done different is started drinking red bulls and started taking magnesium at night because some one said that would help my leg pains
I'm going through this now and now my doctor refuses to give me anything for pain now.
I have the same problem with it not showing up in my urine. I've been taking for almost a year x3 per day. My doctor even sent my urine to an outside lab for further tests. He told me last time I was there that it has never shown up in my urine. This is so bizarre!! I feel like they don't believe I take it.
would taking Niacin affect the outcome of the drug test for the hydrocodone not showing up in my husbands urine ? i started taking the Niacin also and i am on hydrocodone also. im sure i will be tested next month when i go to the doctor.we started the Niacin for our chloresterol . i saw where you talked to someone and their test was not right and he was taking b12.
as far as i know, nothing has changed. same job, same lifestyle, i do drink A LOT of water. but i always have. my weight has been the same for almost a decade now. i did start taking B-12. but i started taking it a few months before the first negative test. i told them i would take a blood test to prove that i was taking it and it did show up. but the amount was really low compared to what it should have been.
