I Need A Dr That Can Prescribe Methadone For Maintenance Not Pain Near Waynesville Missouri
UpdatedMy husband and I are recovering addicts (10 yrs iv) we tried the clinic but were unable to afford the drive to the clinic so we have been dosing ourselves between 30-40mgs a day for the past five years. We really want a way to get a legal prescription, I have been a stay at home mom of twins for 5yrs and it is now time for me to find a good job I want to be able to show I have a script for these so it doesn't hinder me in my career, we neither one feel like we can function normally even after making it thru detox...I want to be able to have the energy to take care of my children and not go back to using heroin because we cannot methadone legally if anyone knows of a doctor we can go to in Missouri preferably central but we could drive to st Louis to get a once a month prescription we feel trapped in this cycle and are afraid of failing at detoxing and living life without the opiates that have helped us become productive in life like we never were before...

Hi, Lola! Sorry about the problems you're having, you are dealing with so much. I really hope things improve for you all.
However, as to the Methadone, a private doctor isn't allowed to prescribe it for addiction treatment/maintenance, that would be against the law. To receive it for that type of treatment, you have to go to a clinic and be seen by someone that is specially trained in its use for such.

What you might want to look into instead is treatment with Suboxone, they have a website at suboxone.com where you can look for doctors in your area that treat with it.

It also doesn't require daily visits and has allowed many people to become completely drug free, after a slowly done tapering schedule.
Is there anything else I can help with?
I have done suboxone it almost put me n liver failure and I was not able to function the way that I can w methadone (low dose) the closest clinic is an hr away I cannot afford the drive daily and gettin up at 430 I. Order to b back for work. I don't know if the laws the have changed and now meth clinics can start off sending u home w a lock box and ur weekly meds but that I would be able to do. I've read so much that the docs that prescribe sub can also prescribe meth. I feel hopeless I cannot afford to try the suboxone again and risk ruining my liver as I have hep c which is now there but dormant. It's scary. When I go to get a job. Will the methadone show up on a drug screen for a normal job. I know it doesn't show up on an 8 panel. I just want to b legal. That's all I want to move forward w my life and not feel like a criminal. It's not fair that the people who r responsible enuf to take their meds as they r prescribed are not able to get what they need because of the few who have screwed up the system. I do not Know why they advertise these docs as methadone and suboxone providers when they r not. I need help and have no where to turn
It takes about 2 months to get your first take home at methadone clinic, which is only one day a week. It takes about a year to get the whole week of take homes and that is being a very good girl. So, I'm guessing that isn't an option for you.
It's not going to be cheap by any avenue you take because these doctors/psychiatrists want 2-300$ a visit for methadone treatment. Methadone clinics are about $100 a week, which is the cheapest I've found by far without insurance.
If you go by Dr., your best bet is to say it's for detox and explain that methadone is the only thing you can take because of your history. Most doctors will understand even if you tell them you are getting them from the streets now. There are websites that help you find methadone doctors too.
I don't know what else to say because you have such a restricted way of going about this. Good luck too you though and hope you figure something out.
I am not an addict ... I am a pain patient. Please remember when you are accusing others of messing up the system for you that addicts have messed it up for pain patients like me who randomly have U/A's to be sure we are taking what they are giving us and nothing else. Unfortunately things have gotten so bad hat the DEA has stepped in and scared the doctors. The reason is because people who do not need these medications are able to get them and sell them .... I suspect the same way you have been maintaining your sobriety.
Please believe me when I say I have a heart because I do. I feel horrible for the hoops that they have you hopping through to get your medication but I know there is a reason. They do not want this methadone on the streets.
I was a police officer when I became addicted to H, you can imagine why. Anyway I had to put in for an early retirement LOL, now I manage a bus lot and have a cdl which requires random drug panels and methadone does NOT come up; except with 10 panels. I've been on methadone for 10 years now. I wish I never started it. I gained 150lbs and feel like s***. Not to mention there is absolutely no libido. My advice is go through detox (I know easier said than done) and put it behind you.
It's illegal for a job to discriminate against you because you are on methadone maintenance, I think, unless you are on a high dose (In NY at least). 30-40mg is a low dose that should leave me perfectly functional. I know whereof I speak, I have been on a MMTP since 1997...Good luck my love, it aint as easy where you are as it is in NYC...
that.is not true what was said before, any doctor can prescribe methadone if he wants to. most are scared to...try a pain management clinic in the closest hospital Lola. Have you tried that?
Lola..The only way a doctor can prescribe you and your husband Methadone is for chronic pain. It’s not my business where you got the pills before. Just know if you're going to go to a regular doctor, there are steps you have to go through before you get the prescription. You can’t just walk into the doctors office and ask for methadone. The doctor is going to have both of you get MRI’s.. then if that shows that you need pain management they will first try every other option before giving you a narcotic..No matter what anyone tells you believe me when I tell you that there is not a doctor who will treat you especially if he/she finds out that you never had a valid script. You basically have several options. You can bite the bullet and go to a clinic. You will have to go in everyday. In about a year you can get six take homes and after two years you may get 13 but you can’t have any positive U/A’s. I know how hard it can be to go to the clinic everyday but we have all had to go through it. I’ve been free from opiates since July 2002 and I go into the clinic every other week and it’s hard on me because the clinic I go to is almost two hours each way. I have had to take a cab because I have a car but it’s not working that good so I need to pay the cab driver $338.00 twice a month. Now I’m losing my ObamaCare because trump the village ***** took out the individual Mandate which is how I got a insurance to begin with and it’s been three or four years so I’m really going to be hurting financially. I’m willing though because I have a life today. As long as I just do what I have to do, everything will work out. Your last option is kicking cold turkey and that would be Hell. I’m sorry you are in this position... Whatever you choose will be hard. But you know what? We have all been there and it will be ok.
I need help finding a dr that prescribes methadone pills in St. Louis, Mo.
Re: Lola (# 2)
For your insurance cover treatment for Hep c? I had it for so many years probably 20 plus years. I remember going through all the trials and finally one that worked. Now I'm seeing the medication being prescribed and advertised on TV. I know you said you had liver problems but I would imagine a lot of people with hep c do so the treatment should be okay for that? I'm guessing as I am not a doctor. I just know from my own experience. I'm so sorry to hear you can't take Suboxone and that you're having problems getting your methadone. I've heard what my sister had to go through having a prescription. Thankfully she can take Suboxone and now that it's available to her is good but I know that's probably plenty of people that it's Suboxone might not work for.
Re: blackydee (# 7)
Hopefully there's a good pain management clinic around Lola. The one here in Madison was horrible to me. Treated me like an addict. I was not there for pain medication and before I said anything she said I'm not prescribing you pain medicine or narcotics I can't remember but she said it in a very nasty tone. We'll screw you lady because I already have that prescription. I need a different mode yet or it is of treatment and all you want it offer is Lyrica crap that put my daughter nearly in the hospital. There are some good ones I hear though. It's worth a try!
Re: Dee (# 11)
Pain Management clinics only treat chronic pain. They do not treat substance abuse disorders. Private doctor cannot treat substance abuse disorders with Methadone
