Lyrica is actually classified as an anticonvulsant that has also been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache and weight gain.

However, yes it can be habit forming, mainly if someone is prone to addictive tendencies.
