2 wks ago i had a stroke, i am incredibly fit and eat healthy all my doc reports said they had no idea why at a the young age of 40, i would have a stroke. i have no health issues. i decided it's probably the pill since every side effect of any pill is blood clots and strokes. BINGO! I CALLED MY OB AND SHE SAID STOP IMMEDIATELY. i am also CALLING THE FDA # ON THE LOESTRIN SITE FOR THESE TERRIBLE SIDE EFFECTS. DON'T WAIT UNTIL YOU END UP IN THE HOSPITAL

Hi, I am so sorry to read about the problems that you experienced on bc. I too had a stroke while taking Loestrin. It has completely changed my life. Due to the spot where the blood clot was located, my entire left side was paralyzed. I had to have acrainiotomy to allow my brain to swell and I am currently going to outpatient therapy to try and retrain my brain how to make my left side move again. Luckily I am right handed, so I have been able to write, which came in handy after surgery because they had to do a tracheotomy to help me breathe. I was just 33 when this all happened and I had only been taking the pill for 4 days. I didn't do any research on this pill when my doctor prescribed it. Not that it would have done any good though since I have always thought that 'those side effects' are so rare, they would never happen to me. I no longer think that! Actually I think the opposite. While I was in the hospital I considered playing the lottery! But we don't have a lottery here in Utah. I hope you are recovering well. God bless you.
Do you smoke? That definitely increases the risks of blood clots and stroke
yes i've learned that after spending a week googling all the reports about BC pills. they sound pretty horrible, all of them, but i guess it's like cigarettes, people know they're bad for you but you do it anyway until the doctor says you have cancer. women are putting themselves in lethal danger with BC pills. it just saddens me a bit.
Wow, I am so sorry, that's horrible.
However, the possibility of blood clots and stroke happening are true of any hormonal based contraceptive, not just Loestrin.

It's great that you're reporting it and fantastic of you to post a warning here for others.
How are you doing? Did you suffer any long term damage?
