Hyzaar Dosage For Lowering Blood Pressure

They say that if blood pressure isn't lowered by taking hyzaar 50/12.5 mgs once a day, then upping the dosage to hyzaar 100/12.5 mgs will not make much of a difference... Is that true?

It really depends, if it doesn't work, at all, that can be true and the person will most likely need to try a different medication. If it helps some, but doesn't take it down to the ideal level, then a higher dose could help. I experienced this, when I first started Labetalol, the initial dose of 100mgs did help, but I wasn't at the best numbers, so we took it up to 200mgs and now it works very well for me. However, I've also had others I tried that did nothing, so my cardiologist didn't think it was worth trying higher doses, since they just didn't seem to work for me.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension.

Has there been any change?
