No, according to the FDA, while it has sedative like effects, this is actually an antihistamine that's used to treat allergies. Though it is sometimes used for its sedative like effects, to calm someone before a surgical procedure, or to help them sleep, it is not known to be addictive.

Typical side effects may include dizziness, drowsiness, sedation and dry mouth.
