Hello, Dwaycott! How is your mom doing?

When it comes to pain relief, it is best to leave the dosing up to her doctors. I understand your concern, but there are many medical studies that have shown that higher doses of narcotics to make the people more comfortable in such situations don't hasten death.

I am so very sorry that she is terminal, my dad is as well, so don't think I am taking this lightly…. but there is a point where their comfort has to become most important. Cancer pain is intractable when it hits the terminal stage, you can't even begin to imagine how severe it becomes.

I really hope a miracle happens for both and we can both post back later and say they are alive, well and healthy… but in the meantime, if that dose is making her comfortable, it would be best to trust the doctors and leave it alone.

As long as she isn't showing signs of dangerous distress, like being unable to breathe, she should be fine.

But feel free to ask her doctors to double check, if that will help you to feel better. There is also no harm in being your mother's advocate.

Are there any other questions or concerns?
