Hydromorphone Hydrochloride is actually just one substance, not two. The Hydrochloride just designates the specific chemical salt that the medication is derived from.

It usually only takes about 11.5 to 15.6 hours, but that could increase to 40 hours, if someone has renal impairment.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
