Hello, Bob! How are you?

Unfortunately, under the directives of the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, generics are allowed to differ, in the amount of the active ingredients, by plus or minus 20% of the amounts in the name brand… and they do not have to measure against each other, just the name brand, so one generic may be slightly higher and another could be slightly lower.

The FDA considers this an acceptable therapeutic window and most people don't notice any difference, however, there are some that are sensitive to medications and can experience problems from any slight fluctuation.

That said, there is nothing you can do and your pharmacy will not exchange them. I know this doesn't help and I am sorry that you're in pain, I am just telling you how the laws currently stand.

In most cases, the differences are so slight that your body will adjust in a week or so, but it doesn't always work that way.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Is there anything else I can help with?
