Hydrocodone Tapering

My 73 year old mother ended chemo in June and had bladder surgery in July with a stent put in. She was in a lot of pain and started taking Norco. 2 weeks ag she had the stent taken out and us in less pain, but I am worried about the Norco because she hasn't been herself since the surgery and starting Norco. She's been in bed, not really a desire to eat and it seems the Norco has been messing with her head. Can Norco have this effect? I'm trying to encourage her to reaper off but I don't know the best way. Please help.

Jill, you need to talk to her dr or take her in for an appointment. This med can have side effects like the ones you described. But, it could also be other things. When older patients undergo a general anesthesia, it can affect them mentally long term.

Thank you so much BL. I'm actually scared with how different she's been...just not herself, which is understandable with what she's been through. I plan on talking with her doctor and that is a very good point about the anesthesia - I never thought about that. She's had several surgeries this year with general anesthesia.

I also forgot to mention, and it might be a big factor, that in addition to the Norco, she takes Xanax and an anti depressant. I'm worried 3 meds that potentially effect your head might be exacerbating things.
