Hydrocodone (norcos 5/325) (Top voted first)

I've been taking hydrocodone since December of 2012. After my unsuccessful shoulder surgery and then finding out that I have severe arthritis in both hips. My insurance paid for the first 12 prescriptions, since then I've paid for them out of my own pocket, which was only around $14 a month. Yesterday I went to Walgreens to get a refill and the clerk said they would be 62.85! I thought there must be some mistake. So I headed to Walmart, they had gone up to 68.01! Then I headed to a small town pharmacy and they charged me $25. I was relieved, but, very confused! Does anyone know why there has been such a steep price increase on hydrocodone? I can't find anything about on the net!

I feel ur pain, literally. Isuffer from degenerative disc disease. I am prescribed 150 hydrocodone 10s a month. The past 2 months they have doubled in price each month. I have 2 pay out of pocket due 2 I had to quit my job and apply 4 soc. Sec. Disability. I lost my insurance and income. Why the outragous prices and how r we supposed 2 do this.

Hello! Very sorry for the sudden price change.

However no, I am not aware of any particular reason for it. It could be due to the pharmacies changing suppliers, their supplier changing manufacturers, a production problem, or any one of a number of other possible reasons.

It just happens sometimes.

This medication is a narcotic, so it may be habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, drowsiness and constipation.

The antibiotic Doxycycline recently took a huge jump in price, as well, with no explanation provided.

Does anyone else know more?
