Hydrocodone Compound Vs Other Meds

Going to Pain Management was on opana ER 5mg Didnt like them barely worked...they want to switch me to hydrocodone compound 10/200. How r they? Never had them...i like the regular hydro 10/325 they work better for me than the opana do:) And oxycodone work good too but this Pain Management wont perscribe anything that is short acting. I was once on 15 mg oxycodone they worked very well too lil better something with the codone im thinking, but they r short acting too so they wont give them to me..morphine doesnt work on me either tried that too...i have alot of hardware in my back at L5-S1 & C4-C5 And nerve damage and they want to do more Surgery on me but i said no so. Now they want to do shots:(:( Help on the meds plz need something that Works plz & thank you!

Zohydro ER is the only long acting hydrocodone on the market. It contains only hydrocodone and comes in several different strengths. It just came out a few months ago. The 10/200 compound that you're referring to isn't long acting. If I'm understanding you correctly.

Zohydro ER is hydrocodone but acetaminophen free, not a combo formula, meaning it won't damage your liver like all other hydrocodone formulas. I've heard good things about it. 2 pills a day.

The Dr did say it is new said its a compound. And said 10/200...i havent seen the script they took it over to Pharmacy themselves but Pharmacy told me it would take them two days to make the script...so they r not Long lasting? They told me they r meant to b taken either every 8 or 12 hours cuz its pure hydrocodone And then the tylenol in the capsules. I have been looking them up.

Zohydro ER is a single entity hydrocodone formula, virtually like Vicodin or Lortab but without liver damaging acetaminophen and it is long acting, so fewer pills per day. Not sure what your doc prescribed that is 10/200, but not Zohydro. It is pure hydrocodone with nothing else. You may need a 20mg dose of Zohydro to be the same potency of a 10mg Vicodin type because you would probably take 2 or 3 vicodin over a 12 hour period to just one long acting Zohydro as it is time released. What you're talking about is something that your doctor has specially ordered from a compounding pharmacy, because that dosage 10mgs Hydrocodone and 200mgs of Acetaminophen is not available in a manufactured tablet.

And no, they will not be time released, because there is no way for the compounding pharmacy to do that.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
