Hydrocodone Apap 5 500 Expiration

i found some hydrocodone in my drawer, they were kept in a dry dark place in the original container, they were prescribed in 2007 but expired in 2010 and now its about 7 years past the due date. are they still safe to take?

They do not become dangerous, once expired, but they do begin to lose efficacy, being that old, they will most likely not work well, anymore. Thus, it would be best to dispose of them and see your doctor for a new prescription.

The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.
