Hydrocodone 10 320

When I first started picking up my Lortab 10/500 from my pharmacy, it was in pink tablet form. I asked the pharmacist why it was pink, and was told that it was a generic brand. I was also told that it was not as "effective" (potent-wise) as some other colors 10/500 came in. I asked which color had the most effectiveness for overall pain and was told the purple tablets were. After switching to the purple Lortab 10/500 tablets, I noticed a considerable difference in pain relief and duration. Actually, they look more like a bluish-purple.

Hi Herman,

It is true that generic brands are not as effective as brand name medications, generic medications are allowed (by the FDA) to contain up to 20% more or less of the actual active ingredients. This factor, along with different inactive ingredients (binders/fillers) could enable you to have a completely different reaction to each medication.

I find it interesting that the purple Lortab has proven to be more effective than the pink ones, usually the color of a medication has nothing to do with its effectiveness. Are you sure it's the same dosage? Maybe there is more Acetaminophen in the purple Lortab, or maybe the purple variety is formulated with different binders/filler that make it easier for the medication to be absorbed.

What is the imprint on the purple Lortab?
