Hydrocod Chlorphen
UpdatedMy Dr told me to start at one teaspoon a night before bed to help with my coughing all though the night with my cold. It has been one hour and I don't feel tired and I'm still coughing. Should I take an other half teaspoon or wait longer?

Hello, Netta! How are you?
No, you shouldn't raise your dosage, unless your doctor instructs you to do so.
The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic cough suppressant, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
If you aren't opiate tolerant, it can be very risky to try to adjust the dosage on your own.
Is there anything else I can help with?
