Hydracodone was prescribed for me after urterine and hernia surgeries almost two years ago. I'm now taking 5 mg. every 8 hrs. I stopped taking this medication for almost three days and experienced an overhelming feeling of gloom and doom, which was more than I could handle and, therefore, I took a pill on the third day. Is this feeling a withdrawal side effect?

I have been on Oxycodone and Oxycocet for roughly 6 years, the last 3 & 1/2 I have been taking between 240-300 of the Oxycocet a month. I take 100 of both Oxycodone (20mg) and Flexeral a month. I went off of all my drugs a few months ago, what a wicked weekend. I spent the entire time, either throwing up or racing to the toilet or both together at times. The withdrawal symptoms were all but gone after 4 days. However the pain was so severe I had to start them again. I did experience some gloom and doom, but I thought that was because of the pain.

I hope you aren't living day to day, watching the clock like I do. Just waiting for the 4 or 6 hours between pills. Taking this many drugs is rough on my system, but since I have been in so much pain and taking these for so long, I need more and more to get rid of the pain.

Hope ths helps you.

Tracey

When you are on any type of medication for a prolonged period of time, you develop dependence on it, even if you haven't been abusing it and you will experience withdrawal effects if you stop taking it abruptly.

I have been on some kind of pain meds from codine to Opium sence 1971 after a motorcycle wreck and been through withdrawal more times than I care to talk about
I can say this about withdrawal. If you get & keep a mindset that this anit no thang I've gotten through the flu that was this bad before and Don't give into the thoughts of I'll never be able to kick this or oh god I'm out and can't get anymore now .
I myself do this ; [1] get ready to spend the next 5 days in bed kicking the covers or at least 3days because like the flu this won't go away until it's done. The first 4 days will be the ruffest pertaining to the sickness
[2] Try to sleep as much as you can. Benidryl can help I take 100mg very 4-6 hrs.
[3] Most importantly keep your mind from running away with the thoughts of your gona die. Hang tite to your bed and keep telling yourself, I can get through this day or hour or sometimes minutes without my meds.
On day 4 the sickness will start to subside but the thoughts won't. You have to master them in anyway that works for you. You won't feel good but you do fell alright and that will be good enough until you go through some kind of program or start back on your meds.
This post was not meant as a magic combo to make it go away but as a way to get through it. Good Luck
