How To Take Ampicilina 500 Mg Dosage

You should take 1 pill every six hour 4 times a day . 1 hour before you eat or 2 hours after you eat.. but if it causes nausea you can take with food it just takes longer to absorb. . You should take for a least 7 days better if you take for 10 days ...hope this helps

Thanks for sharing this dosing information on Ampicillin. I just wanted to build off what was mentioned and add a couple details for other readers on here. Even though a 7-10 day regimen seems to be most prevalent for typical bacterial infections, I have heard of cases where people are on antibiotics like this for several weeks or more at a time. It all depends on what type of infection you might be dealing with and how severe it is, but I think it should be left up to the doctor to determine what length of time a patient needs to continue antibiotic treatment. Stopping antibiotics too early can result in the bacteria becoming resistant, and depending on the type of infection, 10 days may not be long enough. For example: Up to 14 days of Ampicillin treatment is recommended for patients with bacterial peritonitis and "at least 8 weeks" is recommended for patients with prosthetic valve infections due to certain strains of bacteria. Various drug monographs seem to expand on dosing specifics in more detail than others. I'd just encourage everyone to discuss dosing & administration protocols with their doctor before taking what might work well for someone else's infection and not necessarily yours.
