How To Take Amoxicillin 875 Twice Times A Day

I've been taking 875mg Amoxicillin/125mg Clav for a tooth abscess. My doctor gave me 10 days worth of meds to take twice a day. I've been taking it now for 4days but breaks it down into 3 times a day by splitting the pill in 1/2 which means I'm actually taking a pill and a 1/2. I tried the 1st day and it made me sick so I decided to try it this way but I'm noticing my abscess is not going down it actually got a little bigger. I was told that regardless the infection should've went down at least a little by now but it hasn't..

If you aren't taking the amount prescribed, then you may not be getting enough to eradicate the infection that has caused the abscess. It is very important to take the dosage that you are prescribed, in order to eradicate the infection, and see improvement. Otherwise, you create the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria.

The FDA does warn that headache, non-allergic skin rash, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting can be side effects of this medication.

Have you also consulted a dentist? The underlying problem that caused the infection needs to addressed, or the infection will keep returning.

Thank you for your response. I ended up doing as I was prescribed and the abscess burst. Yes I've seen a dentist and it's my wisdom tooth that has to be removed. I can't get it pulled until infection is gone completely... Well that's what I was told
