How To Stop Taking Lyrica After Only 3 Weeks

I've only been taking lyrica for 3 weeks. 75mg twice a day for a week then 150 mg twice a day for 2 weeks. I need back surgery and lyrica isn't something I should have been subscribed. The specialist told me to stop taking it but now I'm reading that I need to wean off. Do I still need to wean off if I've only been on it 3 weeks? The Dr. went on vacation for 3 weeks so I can't ask him

I have been using Lyrica 200 mg twice a day in excess of a year. My pharmacy failed to request a refill request as they said they would and I was out for about 5 days. I've had 5 toes amputated and had pain in my feet. During the period I was out, it felt like pins & needles (or your feet waking up from being asleep) all the way up to my knees! The dr. explained that this is exactly what happened, my nerves woke up.

Yes you HAVE to wean off of it! It took me three months to do it, I had withdrawals while getting off it. In my opinion this a bad drug. Get off of it, take your time.

This is the same question I would like answered, but lots of reading has given me an idea that taking it over such a short period of time means that dependence should be light. I was on 600 mg daily straight away, after gabapentin for trigeminal neuralgia. My GP and I thought it worth a try as I was getting pain even at the highest dose. It didn't really help, in fact the pain got worse, but there were other more pleasing effects so it seemed apt to come down in dosage to see if it worked in combination with the gbp. It hasn't really!

I think that as long as you have adequate alternative pain relief it might be ok to come off the Lyrica over a few days. A pharmacist should be able to advise and I recommend asking one, they are very well informed about drug management. I have been taking it one week less than yourself and have inadvertently missed a night-time dose of 150 mg, I have been on 300mg daily for a week or so. I intend to take only one morning dose for a couple of days then stop. I am already back on gabapentin anyway. Good luck with the back surgery!

Why can't doctors be held responsible for destroying people's lives with unnecessary dangerous drugs purely for drug companies profits.. we are continually being told you must have this vaccination or that pill for no other reason than profit.

Hi...Ive just stopped taking Lyrica 75mg 2x daily and I feel so much better. Cold turkey. I was only on it a month but found it did nothing for my nerve pain. 3 herniated disc surgeries possibly 4th. I'm sure my mood is cranky but I had so many bad side effects with chills fever migraine it wasn't worth it. I hated being dependent on a drug. Try and see if you can do it. If not try taking 1 pull at bedtime and gradually wean off that way. That's what my pharmacist said but I'm stubborn and doing it my way. Good luck!

Hi Jill, How are you feeling now? I have been on 150mg for a month now due to a nerve surgery and after reading what a yucky drug Lyrica is I am so done with the drug myself tonight. I hope you are doing well because I am going to quit cold turkey too after a month of use.
