Inflamed taste buds are something we all experience, at one point, or another, but they are really harmless and just annoying, since they tend to sting and hurt.
Generally, these infected ones occur due to spicy stuff, highly acidic stuff, trauma to the tongue and some medications. Once they occur, there's not much to be done, but to let them run their course, they'll eventually go away on their own. Ice on the tongue, or swishing with a baking soda solution may help alleviate the discomfort, according to the NIH.
To avoid them in the future, you need to figure out what is causing them and avoid that substance in the future.
