If you missed pills during your period week, it won't make a difference. They are inactive and you don't ovulate that week.

Each missed active pill can increase your risk of pregnancy, but you'd really have to miss them around the time of the month that you ovulate, for the risk to be any higher. By suppressing your natural hormones with oral contraceptives, it prevents ovulation from occurring.

Typical side effects to oral contraceptives, as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding and PMS like symptoms.
