It would be best to just honestly tell your doctor, without specifically asking for a dosage increase. Doing so may lead them to think you're drug seeking, thus it's best to just inform them of the problem and let them suggest a solution.
The FDA classifies this medication as a stimulant that carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, weight loss and insomnia.
