Since they both contain Acetaminophen, neither is really any easier on the body, they both carry the same risks of possibly causing liver damage.

As to pain relief, the Hydrocodone is far more potent and effective than the Codeine in the Tylenol 3.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Hi there! Hydrocodone 7.5/325 is stronger than Hydrocodone 5/325. The first number in each refers to the milligrams of hydrocodone in the pill (5, 7.5, and up to 10) and the second number refers to the milligrams of acetaminophen in the pill (325, 500, etc.).

A recent study concluded that hydrocodone is no more effective than Tylenol-3 with codiene. (300/30). The perception is hydrocodone is more powerful, but the study refuted that assumption.

Can you get a lesser dose of acetaminophen in loratab. I now have 7.5/325 but keep hearing about liver damage and acetaminophen. Prescribed by neuro for migraines but am using for back pain bc ortho will only give me tramodol what doesn't touch the pain. Actually the loratab barely helps and thinking Ortho could send referral for pain management. My back doesn't hurt continuously but I can't walk far or stand hardly at all bf pain. I have done PT numerous times with no result. Ortho won't touch me surgically. I have scoliosis. Any fellow pain people have pain from scoliosis?

While doctors have told me I'm wrong, and hinted that it was drug seeking behavior, tylenol with codeine causes me horrible stomach pains every time I take it, whereas hydrocodone/tylenol never does and is a much more effective pain reliever. I have been on and off pain management for years (hint: I have chronic pain, but I find if I don't go off for at least a year every few years it becomes completely ineffective) and hydrocodone is like magic for me, more effective than either Fentanyl or Dilaudid, so I do believe there is some element of finding what is is right for you.

I get annoyed if a doctor (it's usually a dentist) tries to give me codeine. I'm sure it's really not, but I interpret it as an act of hostility!

I have scoliosis with pain too. I just completed 3 months of schroth physical therapy. There are few PTs that are trained with this specialization. It has helped my pain and if you do the exercises almost every day it is suppose to prevent the curve from getting worse. I take lortab rx prescribed by my neurologist for migraines bc my ortho doc will only rx tramodol. I don't bother taking that as it doesn't help at all.

I have read similar studies. Though most View acetaminophen w codeine to be weaker,
it was neck to neck in discharged ER patients in a recent double blind study concerning pain
reduction.

Although this dose is never recommended, approx 150mf of codeine is equal 30mg of hydrocodone
