The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
It is potent and very effective at helping many people with pain.
However, it would really be best to let your doctor suggest a medication to try. If you go in asking for a certain medication, most will view that as being drug seeking behavior and won't want to prescribe anything.
