Have been taking 400mcg Fentora with 125mcg Fentanyl Patch as prescribed by my PM doc. Fentora supposedly is only used for cancer pain. I do not have cancer just major chronic pain in knees for 10 years she believes is now CRPS. She says I have to stop either the patch or the Fentora. I have heard that Morphine is a good sub and she suggests 15mg. Dilaudid is also an option but did not have any success with that in 4mg dose. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!!

My suggestion (sorry so late a reply) is that u stop the patch immediately. Fentanyl 50 Mcgs over 5 years has ruined my beautiful teeth. Anything with the derivative fent - etc. pls take my advice and stop. Dilaudid if it doesn't work at that dose and it was your first time. Don't. The dosage will have to be higher and it is HIGHLY ADDICTING!! Seen it happen. And as with any pain med the longer your on it, it has to be increased due to the buildup of tolerance. I recently voluntarily stopped all my meds. My friend who was on way less than me had her gall bladder removed and she was in real pain after. They were iv'ing her as much as they could give her as her Dr was aware this might happen. He said anymore could kill her and he had warned her with increases over the years someday this might happen. She stopped. I'm in no way saying don't take your pain meds. Rate your Pain every time u have it. Write it down A journal is good. Write down what u took and the amount and mgs or mcgs. Also time of day. U can show this to ur PM. IF THEY STILL PUSH THE HARD STUFF. TRUST ME, THEY ARE GETTING PAID FOR IT!!! I would suggest that u take the strongest tramadol they will give and some low dose Vicodin with the least amount of Tylenol. Try that!!! Let me know if u do? Signed - A girl that is hurting unbelievably but at the expense of smiling really big at my daughter's wedding.
