How Long Is Amoxicillin Good For

My boyfriend took amoxicillin a year ago for a infection he did not finish the prescription an now has the same chest infection again and he wants to take the amoxicillin that's left, I want to know if it is safe for him to do this....

He should see his doctor for a new prescription.

The reasons I'm saying that are because if these are just the leftovers from an old prescription for an infection, he may not have enough to fully eradicate this infection, which creates the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria and that can be very dangerous.

Plus, after a year from the date they were dispensed to him, they begin to lose effectiveness and that also ups the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria.
