How Long Does Neurontin Work In Your Body Before Being Excreted

I was recently started on neurontin and even before discharge I advised the psychiatrist that I was having reactions. He felt they were occurring from starting Geodon and stopped that one. I was having discharge on Friday April 27th. Symptoms worsen and I read more on neurontin and really am concerned. I called the BSU as I wanted guidance and was told to discontinue it. I am unable to remember the start date but thinking it was possibly the Tues or Wed of last week. I REALLY am very concerned about permanent damage... It is a low dose 100 mg TID. I see my primary tomorrow for hospital follow up. HOWEVER, I could use reassurance as I am clearly very anxious and VERY fearful, especially about my memory... Could I have some more guidance and perhaps reassurance?? I am very very concerned right now. Thank you

It takes too long as far as I am concerned. My experience with Gabapintin was the worst reaction I have ever had . I feel for you...
Have a Blessed day...
I would say if you are already having adverse reactions, stop taking it. I was put on Gabapentin and almost immediately started feeling a crawling sensation all over my body. It blocked my Lorcet, which was the best pain med I had ever taken. Never had any unwanted pain when I was taking those. Blocked any medication I was on. Couldn't stand anyone touching me and on edge all the time. Seems it did the exact opposite of what it was supposed to help me with.
I HATE this BS with the opioid war. It is causing so much havoc with the patients who really need it. Back to Gaba... I went cold turkey off it after a month, just couldn't take it any longer. If I remember correctly,it was about 3 weeks before the effects started wearing off enough to start feeling better and back to normal. But, still feel sometimes like it comes back to haunt me, especially now that I no longer have my Lorcet and Soma for sleep. Some Dr. decided that opioid are too addictive, but I took mine for over 15 years, then had to switch to Percocet cuz the hydrocodone is all different formulation and does not work worth a darn. Marco is a joke, and all these kids who were abusing them from pain mills are now on Subutex and Suboxone and are now selling those. Sorry didn't mean to get off subject... just so mad about my meds. I live in a very rural county on fixed income, do not have a vehicle for Pain Management, and the nearest places either are too far or do not accept Medicaid.... Thanks for reading, and hope you get your issue resolved.
Hello, Ann! How are you doing? I'm sorry about the problems you've had.
No, you've not likely experienced any permanent damage in such a short amount of time.
Neurontin is classified by the FDA as an anticonvulsant and even those that have been on them for years, who experience memory and cognitive issues usually find them to go away, when the medication is discontinued and they try something else.
The other typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain.
Is there anything else I can help with?
