Why not be proactive and take it around 4pm before the spikes occur?
Hello, Danette! How are you? How high is it spiking in the evening? And when are the spikes occurring, are they happening after activity, after eating, or just close to the time of your next dose?
Your blood pressure should fluctuate throughout the day, in accordance with some of the things I've already asked about, such as activity, eating, next dose being due and those are just some of the reasons listed by the NIH.
I am a high blood pressure/cardiology patient myself, and I have learned that there are certain times mine will usually go up, for instance, when I first get out of bed and start moving for the day, it will be higher for awhile, due to stomach issues I've had it can also go up, after I eat and it definitely goes up if I don't take my medications on time.
I am not a doctor, so I can't say this is what's causing it for you, I'm just positing some ideas to explore.
Some people may experience spikes when they get hungry, due to blood sugar fluctuations.
How often you're checking it can also mess up the readings. The closer they are taken together, the more elevated the readings, I just experienced this at my cardiology visit last week, when the girl couldn't get a reading the first time. The second was slightly elevated, but since it wasn't dangerously high, they figured it was due to trying to check my blood pressure, again, too soon.
Additionally, your worrying about it could cause it to spike, I'm well known to experience spikes anytime I'm nervous or worried about something, such as if I have to go to the ER, or if I have to see a new doctor for something.
Beer was something else that used to cause me to experience spikes, so I can no longer drink it.
There's also a chance that you need a higher dosage, or that you may do better on a different medication.
Well it does spike to about 140/98...and it is when i should take my next dose and i do drink beer and smoke and am doing 50000 things and dealing with family and a crazy toddler and also worrying about it going up... So i take it at around 7 pm when it does go up, but before that it's fine... So should i take it earlier even when it is good?
