On Saturday I chewed a half of a 75 mcg fentanyl patch for the first time ever. Will it be in my system on Monday around 11:00 am for a urine test?

I've been drug free and want to know can a person dope your urine test with that drug called fentanyl? If so when it went to the lab for testing my medication never showed up ..when I was told I tested positive for just fentanyl I went nuts! I asked for the labs name and they wont give it to me! Which is why I'm asking if someone can dope your urine with that drug? Otherwise it's the lab somehow but something isn't right! I am going to mro to see whats up. They are quality control employees of the lab and whom my lawyer now has to get involved... Omg I never believed people I always said yeah right you wasn't positive and now I feel terrible for I'm going through this s***!

Campbell, I'm SO sorry for what you're going through. YES, I know for a fact that pain management clinics and other providers can order drug compliance tests that will show that you test positive for this drug metabolite or that drug metabolite. It shows up that way because the vast majority of pain management providers are completely clueless about WHAT test to conduct to show compliance for that particular drug. Different opiates are metabolized by the liver in certain particular ways, and as the metabolism of the opiate occurs, the metabolites of that opiates you take is then detected in your urine in concentrations that are compatible with the dosage you are prescribed. Where providers make a huge mistake is when ordering a test that isn't compatible with the metabolic pathway (the breakdown of a drug into its specific metabolites) of the prescribed drug. Then the patient's drug test comes back positive for, say, morphine...which perhaps ISN'T the metabolic by-product of their prescribed opiate because their provider didn't order the correct compliance test because of their lack of knowledge concerning the metabolic pathway of their patient's prescribed opiate. But you said you were drug free and fentanyl showed up....wtf?? Excellent that you have legal counsel. Mistakes are made every single day. Many of them. Fight it every step of the way. Everybody please take note. My last doc just did a dip stick urine test in the office. Current do sends it out to a lab and you find out on your next appointment. Please specify what kind of urine test to get a correct answer.

I feel the need to post another reply to you, Campbell. wouldn't your pain management provider give you the name of the lab?? Fentanyl is a drug that shows up on tests as, well, fentanyl. But if you are taking an opiate like hydromorphone(Dilaudid), your test will show up with the metabolites for Dilaudid(not sure what they are). I was released from a pain management center because I showed up positive for morphine..which is a breakdown of heroin. I NEVER, EVER took morphine. I talked to my local pharmacist..they are VERY knowledgeable about pharmacology and the breakdown of opiates as well as their metabolic pathways. He said morphine absolutely is a metabolite of Dilaudid after its breakdown by the liver. But let's say you are taking Oxycontin (oxycodone). I believe the specific breakdown pathway for oxycodone is NOT morphine..but some other chemical. So if you show up positive for morphine, then you obviously have taken Dilaudid or some other drug that breaks down into morphine. But to just show up with Fentanyl...when you did NOT ingest it..then there is a HUGE problem. My pharmacist also said that pain management centers are SO busy and overloaded that they will unload patients by ordering the wrong test for the drug you are prescribed..meaning, you will show up with the wrong breakdown metabolite for the drug you are taking...therefore showing you to be non-compliant...which gives them the legal right to discharge you as a patient. So very many people, ESPECIALLY pain management providers..are not knowledgeable about what test to order for the drug(s) you are prescribed. The result is that you show up positive for something you never even took. They do this at times when too overcrowded to reduce their patient load. Please talk to your lawyer..You did NOTHING wrong...You will prevail!!

I took fentanyl on Monday night at about six o'clock pm and I was called in for a urine test. I'm prescribed methadone and oxycodone. Will the fentanyl still be in my system?

Hello Jojo. Your reply made me a little sad. I too am taking narcotics because I truly need them for extensive injury to my nerves which caused atypical trigeminal neuralgia. There was a time period that I was having to frequently head to the emergency room for my pain because I was not adequately being treated (my condition is known as one of the most painful known the medical community). My point is this. I have been treated horribly by people, nurses and sometimes the doctors. One nurse even said "why don't you people follow through with what you are supposed to be doing. You people can't always come here". My point is that everyone seems to have that attitude anymore about everyone in general with chronic pain, unless you do have cancer. It is so hard to be in unrelenting, horrible pain. I don't think it's fair that anyone with pain is labeled a drug seeker anymore.

Dude gotta spend 20 on mouthwash cleaner and 20 on urinalysis. Hasn't done me wrong yet if you follow the instructions. Mouthwash will turn your spot blue. Just say you had a slurpee or show up with blue Gatorade. Plausible deniability friend. Good luck next run. I've passed multiple after 3 whole days clean no tricks tested on 4. I also cleaned with a vengeance do those three days. Water and nutrients and smart water. Gotta over hydrate.

I know because I get the patches and my doctor has told me it is 7-10days from when I remove the patch or took the last pill

If they are doing a metabolite test on u it can tell EVERYTHING, including exactly how much is taken daily and the method of administration; each method releases different amounts into the blood and urine. So yes these tests can be extremely intense. To anyone who needs to know the TRUTH, i am drug tested by 3 different agencies for almost 8 yrs now. I am on Fentanyl and it 100% DOES SHOW UP IN URINE SCREENS. In a "straight 8" panel it takes anywhere from 3-5 days to test negative. If they do more intense metabolite testing u could be screwed for up to 10 days depending on how much, how often and the method of administration. For urine tests, Fentanly is a minimum of 3-5 days or AT LEAST 72 hours if ur lucky, but the average is 5 FULL DAYS in urine and 3 full days for blood. ALSO, if ur taking Fentanyl and they do a urine metabolite testing they will find it 10-12 days later. Lab metabolite testing will show up to 10-14 days no matter what.

I go to a methadone clinic. I was taking heroin that had fentanyl in it... It takes much longer than people think for fentanyl to come out of your urine... I did stuff...had a test 2 days later and failed for heroin and fentanyl...5 days later I failed for just fentanyl without any further use. 5 days later I passed. Different people pass it slower apparently.

Been test, and fent does show up on a drug screen, it is dependent on what kind of test the Dr is using. A UA will show it and takes a longer time because they send it for further testing to break it down to what type: patch, pill or intravenous. How long is completely dependent on your weight, health, water intake, and your bodily functions. So there IS NO MAGIC NUMBER of when your clean. If you aren't supposed to have it stop taking it!
