Hi Kelvinator,
According to The University of Washington Medical Center, Eliquis (Apixaban) reportedly starts working in your body to reduce blood clots within just a few hours after ingesting your first dose. So it doesn't seem to take very long at all in that regard.
The way it is said to work is by blocking the action of a substance in the body that helps clots form. But if you were to stop taking it, Eliquis's effect will supposedly wear off within about 24 hours after your last dose.
I hope this helps answer your question!
My mother was on Elequis for 2 years before l researched the drug after terrible side affects. She stopped the drug 2 years ago but still has the terrible swollen legs and ankles which she never had in her life. She is still so tired and she just cant do a thing she's is now 80 but was active all her life before she was put on this terrible drug.We thought it would have worked its way out of the body by now, is there a way to detox
My mother has terrible swelling in feet and legs and can hardly walk. She stopped the drug 2 years ago now but her health is just getting worse. How do you get rid of the terrible stiff and swelling side effect to the feet and up into the legs and the knees from Eliquis? These side effects were known yet they still sold this drug. When you knowingly kill people isn't that NORMALLY called MURDER? I have read that it leaves Deep Vain Thrombosis which can kill if the clot from it travels.
I was put on Eliquis for P.E. I was on it for 3.5 weeks and was tested to see if the clot was gone and it was. I suffered with swollen and very painful joints and the doc said I could quit taking it. They should warn people about the severe side effects associated with this drug. It is very unpleasant and from all the other complaints I've read it sounds about as bad as the other drugs they use for blood thinners.
Get nosebleeds from eloquis. Can I stop for one day after the bleed
