I tested HIV+ last year in December and since then i have been taking the Ilvitrim tablets but i am always having an itchy rash on my vagina. Is it due to the ilvirtrim or what, as i also suffer from lower abdominal pains? i did a consultation and did some scans and they told me there is nothing wrong. How dangerous is low blood pressure as i am anemic when HIV+? I also take multivitamins, B-tabs, iron and the folic acid along with the ilvitrim.

A week ago I got tested positive for HIV I'm using ILVITRIM is it save to use them cause when I drink them I feel hot then cold feeling dizzie my whole body feel different like if I'm a corpse or something feel like I don't have energy in my body I just want to know is it save to use these tablets

I'm hiv + its been 13yrs now not taking anything but I feel that I'm getting weaker and weaker and I'm scared of taking arv's I have friends who are taking them and their bodies structures have changed always having complications so last week tuesday I was given b-co,Amoxylin and ilvitrim from the clinic so I drunk two tablets of ilvitrim,one b-co ,one amoxylin then when I woke up in the morning my lips were itching and had developed a small rush so I call the clinic then was told to stop ilvitrim.Does this mean I have to start taking arv's ?

Givovo, she should consult her doctor about what to do.

The symptoms she is experiencing can be normal side effects of this medication, but if they are severe, she may need to try something else, but only a doctor familiar with her medical condition will be able to advise her of the appropriate course of action.

My cousin is hiv + and has started using ARV's has also been given the ilvitrim, but it complicates her, she now has the rush with spots all over her body and she often gets hot and cold. can she discontinue with them or what.

i may have hiv also but i refuse to get tested
getting rid of the hpv followed by pubic lice followed by parasites under my foreskin that dont go awayy and make it look like a yeast infection n juss gross scarring up i see lil worms n lil walkin guy sometimes..

Qondiswa, just because he is taking these medications does not necessarily mean he is HIV positive. If he is also taking TB medications, it is more likely that he has TB. However, you should ask him to get a definitive answer.

Kotshi, no, you do not have to be HIV positive to take this medication. As I said, it is just an antibiotic and can be taken by anyone that it is prescribed for, to treat or prevent an infection.

Bernice the common side effects can include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

As to long-term use, from what I can find that actually hasn't been studied, because in most cases antibiotics are meant to be used for a short period of time, such as 10 to 14 days.

Yes, as I stated the Ilvitrim is an antibiotic, it contains Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim.

I understand that the thought of taking one for a long period of time can be disconcerting, however, you also have to consider the opposite side of the picture. Being HIV positive creates greater risk of infection and the risks to her from an infection are far greater than any risk created by the medication.

The appetite change could be contributed to this, her other medications, a combo of them, or it may be entirely unrelated. Only her doctor is going to be able to help her discover the root cause.

Ilvitrim - My friend is HIV + and apart from all the ARV's she has also been subscribed Ilvitrim. I believe this is an antibiotic so taking it for extended period of time is a bit scarey. Does she need to take this for ever now? Could this be creating an excessive appetite - or would this be as a result of the other ARV"s.

Ilvitrim contains the active ingredients Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim, it's commonly prescribed in many countries under the name Bactrim, it is an antibiotic, used to treat or prevent infection. Being HIV positive can make you much more prone to getting infections.

As to the vaginal rash and itching, it may be due to a yeast infection, which could be caused from using this antibiotic. Have you seen a doctor for it?

As to the low blood pressure, that really depends on how low it is going and whether or not you have any symptoms from it, such as nausea and dizziness. If it is just low and not causing you any problems, then there is no need to worry. Though you should consult your doctor to be on the safe side.
