How Can I Make Half Of An 80mg Op Immediate Release
UpdatedCan a 80mg Oxycontin be cut in half and broken down to work immediately instead of the time released? I'd rather use it for breakthrough pain.

You can't......plain and simple. Oxycontin contains a "plastic" component that does not break up so it can't be turned into an IR from an ER. There are things people are doing instead, rectally, but it is quite dangerous. I'm not judging you or anything, but if you are using them recreationally you are better off with OXYCODONE IR. I wouldn't gamble with your life by doing things others are doing. If you are on oxycontin for chronic pain, you seem to need an immediate release formula for breakthrough pain. I'm sorry I don't have more to tell you. I have a friend on oxycontin and he said the pain relief just isn't the same at all with this new formula. I don't know but I can believe him. I don't feel a person is getting the amount of active med anymore being the combo of plastic involved and our bodies DO NOT process/metabolize plastic or cellulose. Yeah, by trying.....and I mean only TRYING to control addiction, every chronic pain patient is at risk of their MEDS no longer helping like they once did. More things like this is coming out right down to Norco (Hydrocodone) with the addition of naltrexone being added. I don't know if any have it yet but they soon will! HYDROCODONE and Oxycodone are the 2 meds they spoke of being mixed with naltrexone so they can no longer be abused! The pharmaceutical world has gone crazy and the FDA & DEA want everyone to believe these 2 narcotics in particular are causing so many deaths from OD alone which is not true. Usually it is because they are mixing higher doses with Valium or other benzo's that are CNA's depressants causing respiratory failure. Or, they are taking too many different narcotics together. But, of course they are not admitting to that because they could not gain the control over narcotics like they are doing while pushing people to use H instead because it's easier and cheaper to get. I'm not talking about the addicts doing this either......I'm talking about the true chronic pain patients who have their meds taken away or severely reduced and are so desparate for pain relief they will do anything! Sorry to go on and on.....way off your question.....lol. I just wanted to get this info out there and I KNOW people are going to read your question and any responses! Thanks for reading! Btw, I do a lot of research on meds, new laws, "supposed" reasons for the laws, etc. So, I'm not just babbling my own opinions.
