How Are They When Come Down Off Of Vivance

I have an 8yr old grand daughter who has recently been prescribed Vivanse, she has experienced insomnia she's hungry but can't eat she talks obsessivly , she herself has noticed the differences in her behavior and does not like it she does not want to take it anymore . Is there certain foods that can cause the. Side affects to increase, or maybe things we can have her do or eat to make her system adjust to this? Or should she not be taking this at all, I have thought about talking to her. Dr an Mother about taking her off period!?

As reported by the FDA, those can be normal side effects of this medication.

Typically, however, side effects are transient and will improve with time, as her body gets used to the medication, but that could take 4 to 5 weeks. If they are still so severe after that time, it may not be the right medication for her and she may need to try something else.

If she has anything caffeinated or highly sugared, it may worsen the side effects.

Hello. First off i would like to say i was exactly like your granddaughter as a child. I would notice the change they made in me and didn't like it, i became anorexic on most adhd med including this one. Me and my mother would tell the doctor i dont like them. They make me feel weird, antisocial, sometimes even depressed and it always seemed to stump the doctor that we would be having an issue... After years of getting in trouble and being up to no good terrible in school (from repeatedly not taking my medication) i would be changed to different meds so often trying to find one that worked well that my weight became severely unhealthy, ether over weight, under weight or anorexic from loosing too quickly. Around grade 7 my doctor put me on cannabinoids... and no i wasn't smoking marijuana (didn't even know what that was). It was in pill form and let me tell you the difference it made FOR THE BETTER. I was able to concentrate but i wasn't antisocial. I could eat normally i could fall asleep easily and none of the unwanted side effects. For me this was exactly what i needed and i wish i was put on it way sooner. If your looking for something less stimulating but still effective ask your doctor about herbal options.
