The best option in my opinion is to simply follow your doctors recommendation for the prescription they wrote you. However any adjustments to the time of day in which it is taken should be solely up to you based on how it affects you. Not everyone responds to these medications in a similar manner though - and therefore only you can be the best judge of when to take it through trial and error.

If for example the doses are meant to be taken twice daily (but offer no other instructions), perhaps it would be a good idea to try taking it in the morning and afternoon for a week, then try morning and evening for the following week, etc, and sort of take an observational approach (or better yet a journal) detailing how you feel throughout the day. I'd also recommend keeping a food journal to help make comparisons for each day easier to interpret.
