I have pain shooting from my left lower back. It runs down the left side to the foot. Also tingling. I am on 10mg oxycodone + 325mg acetaminophen. I've been on them for I think 3 yrs. So they are not working. My question is how do I go about telling my doctor that I need something stronger without sounding like an addict? Thanks for all answers. Greatly appreciated!

Hello, Mack! How are you? Has there been any change?
At this point, I don't think the concern is needing more medications, but to make sure that you are not experiencing a heart problem, which many such issues on the left side of your body could possibly indicate. Thus, it is best to just tell your doctor what is happening, including the pain you're experiencing, and go from there.
However, do not ask them for a specific medication. or dosage increase, since that may cause them to think you are drug seeking.
The FDA warns that Oxycodone carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.
