Help With Dosage

i used to take 2 tramadol a day 50 mg. now my doctor has me on sertraline 100 mg a day, ativan, 1 mg 2x a day, can i take a tramadol for pain, i've took it with sertraline before, no effects, i have fibromyalgia and i need something for pain.

It is best not take the Tramadol along with the Sertraline, unless your doctor approves. Both of them can increase the levels of serotonin in your body, which could cause serotonin syndrome and that has, in some cases, been fatal.

The FDA classifies Tramadol as an opioid, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Sertraline is classified as an SSRI antidepressant and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight gain.

Ativan is a benzodiazepine, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability.
