I feel I was discriminated against. Ok, so my appt was at 4:20 pm. When I made the appt I made sure they new I needed as let as possible cud of work. Well my dr is bout 45 minutes away. I called them told them I was on my way and I'll be there before five. They told me to go ahead and cmon that the dr will wait for me. Well I got there with 5 minutes to spare. The door was locked I knocked and they were peeking out the window. And saw me still did not open door. Anyways long story short they called the police out and they just sent us on our way. But now he won't see me. I feel the Dr has discriminated against me. Of when I called and told them I was running late I woulda simply rescheduled my appt if it was to late for them but they said it was ok and the Dr would wait on me so I continued to my Dr's. I feel they treated me with the up most disrespect and feel this was a malpractice decision and discrimination. Please help me understand if I was in the wrong. And if I wasn't can I do something about it. Thank you.

No, thank you for your reply. I basically wanted to hear others thoughts on the situation. I appreciate your time.
Hello, Msmac! How are you? I'm sorry about what happened.
However, this was not malpractice, that is defined by the AMA as being treated incorrectly medically or being given substandard care. Since the doctor didn't see you, it is not possible for this to be considered malpractice.
Discrimination also doesn't apply, that would only apply in this situation if they were letting others in and only not allowing you inside, for some invalid reason, such as skin color or religion, as defined by U.S. law.
The doctor has the right to close their office and is not obligated to wait for you. In spite of what the person on the phone told you, the doctor might not even have known that they told you that and if they consider it a missed appointment, then they have the right to refuse to keep you on as a patient.
I'm not sure why they called the police on you, but I'm sure that also made the situation worse.
Basically, at this point, your best thing to do would be to find a new doctor.
Is there anything else I can help with?
