Heart Surgery
UpdatedI have Aorta Stinosis, in 14 days i am having open heart surgery to repair the aortic valve. My Doctor advised me to stop all anti coagulants (blood thinners), I take one 40mg ATORVASTATIEN (astorvastatien) once day. Do I continue with this medication prior to my operation.
Thanking you.

Hello, Leon! How are you?
This medication so not a blood thinner, it is used to help lower cholesterol, but it would be best to double check with your cardiologist to be careful.
The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and joint/muscle aches.
Is there anything else I can help with?
