I am prescribed oxycodone 10mg taken 4 times daily. I take them as directed. I recently took a 5 panel hair follicle test and it came back negative on everything. Does anyone know a reason that this would not show up on a hair test? I did not have my hair colored or bleached in over two years and I did not take anything to try to alter the results. Thanks!

Jose,
It's much easier to predict with a better degree of scientific certainty when utilizing a testing protocol such as a urinalysis ( regardless of panel type ).

Jose- When it comes to body hair it doesn't matter how long the hair is, the time frame is still about 1 year. And, yes, people can get themselves in trouble by thinking body hair is the best way to go. It usually is not.

Codeine- the reason you see those types of answers is because each person is different so you CANNOT give an exact answers. Also a lot depends on how strong the drugs are, how often is was used and how the body processes the metabolites of the drugs in question. Also people aren't always truthful about what they take. And by the way I do hair drug testing for a living.

Also keep in mind, you cannot compare urine drug testing and hair drug testing. They are two completely different methods of testing. You can't compare a Ferrari to a Volkswagon can you?

I only took those 2 pills but I regret it cause I work in the refineries and I don't know if those 2 pills will affect me getting into the new company I'm going to work for... in your experience with the amount of pills I took.. what is the possibility that I will pass the hair follicle test

I have a 9 panel hair and urine test on Mon March 6th. In the last month I've taken oxycodone 10/325, and a few 10 oxys. Do I have any chance of passing? My friend took the same test a few months ago and failed cause she had THC in her hair from over 6 months ago

Edwin, I would say you will be positive for hydrocodone if they do an extended opiate hair drug test. Sometimes they only do the Hair 5 Drug Panel which does not include the extended opiates, in that case you would be negative.

Dear hairtestingguy, my girlfriend just found out today that she has to take a hair test in the next 48 hours. I am currently not sure if it is just the 5 panel or the extended opiate test. She had one hit of marijuana over a month ago, so not worried about that. But she did take 80 mg of oxycontin (original purdue formula) 2.5 weeks ago. She has also taken xanax a few times, but has an old script for klonopin, so that should be OK if she fails because she has an old script. But what do you think about the oxy, do you think she'll pass? Thanks!!!

Hey GirlNeedsHerJob, I think she should be able to pass even with the 80mg of oxycodone. Of course if they only do the Hair 5 Drug Panel the oxycodone won't be tested. When the lab gets the sample they pulverized a 1.5 inch long sample into a powder and run it. As you might see once they do that they are averaging her usage over 90 days which is a good thing for her. Most 5 panel hair drug tests don't test for benzodiazepines.

My son had surgery and didn't want to take his liquid oxy that was prescribed for pain. I took some to show it wasn't that bad, maybe 1-3 mg? I then, of course got a call from a job that does hair testing. The test is in a month or less. Should I just cut my losses or will this even show up? I don't use any other narcotics and prior to this was completely clean.

That's odd. Something doesn't add up. I took 60mg but not all at once. It was over a month and half. Took my last 7.5mg pill 3 weeks before my test for pre employment which they did a regular 5 panel but a week before that I paid to take a personal one with extended opiates and my results showed negative like I never took oxy.

Girlneedsherjob - The lab I partner with only test down to 200pg/mg which she would have passed. I'm surprised Psychemedics tests down to 80. The lower the cutoff level the more sensitive the test is to pick up any amount. That must be close to zero tolerance.
