I have a monthly rx of oxycodone, 15mg. The pill has always been green, with
markings: ' A ' on top, with number 214 below, on the same side. Today, my rx has green pills also, but with U23 on it. These pills give me a crashing headache. Do you know if they are the same pill from perhaps a different mfg. or are these a time release tab
or mixed with something else? I thank you for your help!

The u23 15mg oxycodone hcl doesn't seem to be as effective as the other 15s I've had. They don't seem to be as strong. Are they generic?

I heard of these new green u23 oxycodone pills that might contain naloxone to help abusers. Can someone explain this to me?

This forum is very upsetting when you have judgmental people calling addicts everything but a child of God! Some act as if they are better than the next person; as if their legitimate pain is any different from another who may have equal or greater pain but somehow began abusing their meds. One must remember that no one wakes up in the morning and says oh I'm going to become an addict today. Most people who are addicted to pills or opiates became addicted after getting legitimate prescriptions at one point or another. Here's an example... Stan has severe back pain and has had several surgeries. He has been on Oxycodone 15s for 2 years.. during that time he has built up a tolerance and now requires an increase in his daily pill dose- his doctor approves this increase from 3 tabs to 5 tabs. Now 2 more years pass, Stan goes to his Pharmacy and now his M box tabs are changed to the U23 tabs (which many have said are much weaker and do nothing for their pain at all). Stan then tries every OTC medication in conjunction with his pills but nothing seems to help alleviate his pain.

He explains this to his doctor and asks for an increase but the doctor will not grant the increase, prescribe a break through medication, nor increase the milligram due to the DEA and govt cracking down and trying to decrease narcotic distribution. With no other option and overwhelming pain Stan then decides to take an extra pill or two a day- for this is the only thing that seems to help with his pain and keep him functional. So now Stan begins running out of his medication early and is forced to obtain medicine through other means since his doctor refuses to help. If he chooses to go without, he will be in excruciating pain, experience withdrawal and be unable to function at all. So Stan who once was a 'by the book' medication taker has now become a pill ABUSER and ADDICT. Those of you who want to blame addicts for the new anti-abuse meds, stricter regulations, and weak formulated pain meds need to point the finger at your government instead. It is the govt that benefits and pockets $$ by approving the distribution and sales of these drugs from shady pharmaceutical companies. But I guess its so much easier to blame addicts (who by the way are ill!) The moral of this story is stop judging people when you don't know their story. Be careful who you call an addict because it's a thin line between use, abuse, and addiction!! And YOU, your mother, son, daughter, or friend can become a 'Stan' tomorrow or next year!! Uplift, communicate and educate..dont judge, ignore, and be ignorant! #WAKEUP

Rite Aid changed manufacturers AGAIN, but this time it was on my Oxycodone 15 mg. I was given ones that has a U23 on them. They don't work as well and also cause me to break out in a sweat, and get weak and shaky like I haven't eaten all day. It was torture. Of course with this medication comes a stigma where everyone thinks you're full of crap, and just trying to get more.

I just got these green pills and holy cow they are nothing like the little green ones with the "A". I'm sad. These new big Green pills are so weak I feel nothing of relief what so ever.

I have been perscribed oxy 15 mg for a couple years following 2 spine surgeries. My pharmacy has also been giving me these new larger green U23 pills. They give me a horrible headache and are less effective. Obviously since they are larger than usual oxys, they must have an added ingredient. I have been reading on line about these pills containing the dopamine blocker in order to keep people from getting hooked on them. I am sick of the goverment allowing this crap to go on. Keeping the ingredients in these meds "top secret" can harm those who may have an adverse reaction to them. My husband is a cancer patient who was recently perscribed oxy 15mg, he takes medicine for migraines and has been for many years. Now when he takes these U23 pills he gets a migraine headache. This is wrong on so many levels. The goverment and big pharma are treating us like cattle these days and it will only get worse. Its bad enough that our own doctors treat us like dope addict criminals because we have pain and require these meds just to make it through the day. I am totally disgusted with the medical community and big pharma. We all know they do not actually give crap about anyone's suffering, its all about $$$$$$

Its all in your head man. I have the same ones and they treat my pain just the same as all the others.

@jbeasy, I'm not trying to devalue your post but I feel it necessary to spread the facts. The u23 pill is NOT part of the "new formula" that prevents abuse which was previously mentioned in this thread. As far as I can tell from everything I have read, the counter active formula that deters abuse is only available in the EXTENDED release pills, not in the INSTANT release pill (which is what the u23 pill is). With that said, there is obviously a MAJOR difference between this pill and any other 15mg oxy. I say this from experience and asking several other people I know that have a prescription for it. I'm not sure if it's the inactive ingredients that make the u23 so horrible or maybe it's the inactive ingredients in conjunction with a smaller amount of active ingredient. The FDA allows a 20% sliding scale regarding active ingredients, so in theory it could legally have 20% less oxy in it than it should. Whatever the issue it's obvious that the u23 pill is without a doubt different from other formulas in a negative way. It's definitely not worth it and if you have access to any other version of the 15mg oxy you should use that instead.

Thank-you! It would be nice if people would do a little research before posting incorrect information.

I'm sorry Tina but your information is 100% incorrect. You're referring to Naloxone and the pills referenced in this thread DO NOT contain Naloxone, that's only in the extended release formula and here we are talking about the instant release formula. Also, Naloxone is nothing new, it's not a new chemical at all. Naloxone has been used to combat prescription pill abuse and opiate abuse for years. Things like suboxone contain naloxone to help control cravings and put the user into a state of immediate withdrawal if opiates are ingested. It adheres to pain receptors blocking opiates from penetrating the receptors so the user can't experience a high, instead they move straight to withdrawal which helps control abuse physically and psychologically over time.

Please don't post something like that unless you know what the hell you're talking about and you clearly don't. The majority of people asking for information on this site are lost enough already, they don't need your misinformation, so next time please don't bother.

These U23 oxycodone are trash. I have always had the mallincroth and when I got my rx filled at shop rite this time they gave me these. I noticed no pain relief but instead made me foggy, sweating and very nauseous. I told my dr and pharmacist that these pills are poison and that my body immediately reacted to them in a negative way. I also started having a terrible headache. The pharmacists didn't seam to care and told me to get something for naesea. They will never pawn this trash on me again. Meanwhile I'm in pain without medication. My dr's office told me there was nothing they could do. I'm in pain management
and seen once a month

That pill is a oxycodone 15mg - a narcotic pain pill.

I experienced the same withdrawal type symptoms you described with this pill. I've been on the 15mg pills for over a year now and I've never experienced this with any other brand except this one. The brand on my bottle is listed as Aurobindo. When I looked into this company I found its an Indian manufacturer and I looked at reviews to see if anyone else was experiencing what I was going through. Everything I find about this company is bogus, all reviews are 5 stars with no ingredients written and is posted by Indian people, so I get the feeling all the "reviews" are fake. You're not crazy, me and another person I know have experienced the same bulls*** with this pill - when you pick up your prescription be sure to check the label and if it's from this company ask the pharmacy if they have another brand and explain there's something about this pill (possibly an allergic reaction to inactive ingredients) that makes you ill. Good luck!

I too have noticed odd symptoms including severe headaches regarding the u23 pill. It is larger than a standard oxy also. I have been noticing that it does not work nearly as well. And the mfr. is aurobindo. I get my meds at giant. I have been searching for answers cuz my U/A came up positive for fentanyl, so I'm told. I have not touched fentanyl. My husband has cancer and his 15 mg pills are much smaller than mine not scored w/ U23 either, and different mfr. And his are from a hospital not giant food. And they dont give me headaches.

I have been prescribed various meds for various things. ANYTHING that comes from the manufacturer Aurobindo does not work anywhere near as well as the same medication from other manufacturers. Avoid Aurobindo at all costs. If you're not sure then ask the pharmacy who the manufacturer is BEFORE they fill it. If your pharmacy is using Aurobindo, switch pharmacies. Small, local pharmacies, and hospital pharmacies, will use better manufacturers than large chain pharmacies. Once again, it all comes down to profit...

I personally find the M box 15's to be the absolute best for pain control and duration (last beyond 3-4 hours) However, the A214's and k8's are definitely runner up's.

Re: banna (# 22) Expand Referenced Message

I have to add...I was young, dumb and influential when 18. I hung out and drove around...45 yrs ago. H ruined my life. I got so sick. Off and on I was an addict. Then, I was kicked by our stallion and couldn't walk for 6 months. What I'm saying is, i am trying like hell to stay away from that H... I havent taken it in 30 yrs. But now with chronic pain, if these dr's keep messing with my percocet u/a here and there, THAT IS HOW N WHY THEY ARE PUSHING legit pain/pill patients who need meds, to have no other choice than to turn to H for pain relief, because they tried so hard to get ppl off prescribed pills. Thus, people are overdosing. It's the wrong way to fight an epidemic...
