They both contain Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, however yes, there can be differences between the name brand and the generic.
The name brand is much more precisely manufactured. In order to be approved by the FDA and continue to be marketed it, they have to manufacture under strict regulations that ensure you get the proper dosage of the active ingredients.
But, to make the manufacturing process easier and cheaper, the generics do not have to be controlled as strictly. Under federal law, they are allowed to vary in the active ingredients by as much as plus or minus 20%.
This means that when taking the generic, you may have been getting a little more of the active ingredient than you are in the name brand.
I know it sounds odd, but it is, nonetheless, true.
This is also why some people suffer problems when they switch from a name brand to a generic medication, some people are sensitive to these fluctuations.
