Generic Oxy Pills
Updated80 on one side and op on the other

These tablets are not generics, they are the new Oxycontin OP, replacing the existing product from Purdue Pharma.
They are specially designed to prevent abuse of the medication. Even if someone crushed them or chew them, they retain their time released properties.
They still work the same for pain and have the same side effects: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation.

It is true. Prudue did replace the pills to make them, supposedly less addictive. However I would urge anyone in chronic pain as I have been for 5 yrs., and taking oxy for 5yrs. to stay away from this med. I never had a problem until the formula was changed. At the time I was even unaware that it had changed. I wwas taking the meds. apx. 3-4 days and had a violent, very sick reaction. Of course they say it is the same but ther is no way. Junkies have destroyed a brilliant medication and we chronic pain patients suffer, I am in the process of getting my meds changed but it is hell. I am so tired, hope this helps you.
In part I would like to reply to the fallowing message plus gain more information .

I agree with this chronic pain sufferer that it is most unfortunate that a drug such as Oxycontin 80's has been so badly abused by some who do not have chronic pain .I was involved in a motor vehicle accident back in June of 1990 which left me permanently disabled .Immediately fallowing the accident I ended up in a swamp with my tight leg literally torn to pieces .I was fortunate enough that the doctors decided to try to save my leg by doing bone grafts and skin grafts to reconstruct the leg .To date I have had 27 corrective surgeries .However, chronic bone infection set in many years back now which seems to be an obstacle that the Doctors have had limited success in fixing .With the bone being so badly infected (as one of the infection specialists in Ottawa had told me my bone infection was the worst case he had ever seen .Meaning many areas of the leg bones and knee area were so badly infected that he could put his finger through the bone in those areas because it was mush ) Naturally this causes me a great amount of pain . Of the many pain medications I was given (Some of which even put me in a comma twice ) fortunately I was only in a comma for short periods of time, once for 9 days and another time for 4 days ) Both times though was due to those administering Morphine in such high dosages to compensate for the amount of Oxycontin I had been previously taking to control the pain . Oxycontin although it did not completely take the pain away did manage to bring the pain levels down to where it was a tolerable level where I could do a little work around my home .That being something I feel is good for any who suffer chronic pain to be able to do and grants one a better outlook on themselves ,simply because the high levels of pain I suffer does tend to make me feel pretty useless at times .Which in turn then causes me to become very depressed .The Oxycontin 80's now no longer being covered by the disability drug benefit program is a problem I am sure many Canadian chronic pain patients now face . I am now 62 years of age and must depend on the kindness of my grown children to cover the costs of this expense .So naturally I am seeking any information on the generic brand Oxycontin 80's (Which are a less costly medication as to the now banned regular Oxycontin 80's) The government drug benefit plan people have told me that they could substitute the Oxycontin 80's with Oxycontin 40's .However , in doing a test on such IE taking 4 Oxycontin 40's instead of two Oxycontin 80's ,I found the pain relief to be of a far less value .Plus the government drug benefit plan only allows so many Oxycontin 40's per day that they will pay for.Which would therefore cut back on the amount I would be able to take daily .This of course seems rather ridiculous to any of us that have such high levels of chronic pain .
My questions therefore are as fallows
# 1 does anyone have the name of the new generic Oxycontin 80's (manufacturers name ) ?
# 2 Are there different types of this new generic brand Oxycontin 80's (if so which are the most effective ) ?
# 3 Is there any way that those of us who require these higher amounts of medication in Oxycontin 80's can get the government drug benefit plans to cover the cost of these medications ) ?
Thank you for any and all help you might offer in this situation .
Respectfully Savvier Chronic Pain Sufferer
