Gabapentin Why Are People Withdrawing From This Drug

I have just done withdrawals from a Dopamine drug that I was using for Restless Leg Syndrome. Now I have been started on Gabapentin and I see so many forums and comments from people withdrawing from this drug. I'm feeling concerned now and can someone tell me the reasons for not wanting to use this drug? Is it because you've found something that works better, or, were you having nasty side effects, or, anything else that I should know?. I'd appreciate finding out everyone's story and thanks very much.

Hello, Katy! How are you?

It really depends on the person, so the reasons may vary.

Not every medication works for every person that tries it and, if it doesn't work, there's no point in continuing it. Conversely, it can cause seizures in some people, mood swings, headaches and other issues, so there are various reasons someone might need to stop it. Weight gain can also be an issue for some people, according to the FDA, so some have stopped it for that reason.

The important thing to remember though is to not abruptly stop taking it, as the can also create the risk of seizures.

Can anyone that's been on it chime in?
