It's a small white round pill with no markings or lines on it. Completely blank. Almost looks like on one side as if it has something dropped on it. Hard to tell. I looked at it pretty close with glasses and still hard to see. He does consume cannabis but his friends have been known to do other substances so I am concerned.

When you mention that it looks like something may have been dropped on it, are you referring to an indentation or perhaps just the way it's shaped/manufactured?
Personally I think it would be best to sit down with your son and carry forth a calm/open minded, yet, firm conversation asking what he knows about this pill. Considering that it's your roof he's living under, you should have a right to know what substances are coming in and out of your home - god forbid that it's something dangerous. I would try to be very understanding, knowing that as teenagers we once did the same things.
Unfortunately though, without a marking of any kind this pill could literally be anything from A-Z. If you run into a dead end with your son, maybe a lab analysis would be in order... However I wouldn't necessarily agree with letting your kid take advantage of you either in so far as not wanting to disclose a potentially illicit or controlled substance with unknown consequences that could potentially affect you both.
