Finding A Pain Dr Arizona Either Scottsdale Phx Tempe Or Mesa
UpdatedI am still trying to find a Dr. who will take over my Pain management contract in Arizona. I live in South Scottsdale. I have been in Pain Management for over 5 years because I am on a high dose of medication no Dr. wants to help me. If anyone out there can help me please. I was told my Dr. he was retiring In Dec. they gave his patients 3 week notice. I did find a Dr. he was willing to take me on as a patient. He wrote my scripts in January when I went back in Feb. he had his PA come in the room hand me a 30 day supply of my medication and told me I was being discharged because of the Dr. I was seeing. I was blown away. I called back after I calmed down and called the office the front desk girl said he decided he did not want to deal with my old Dr. patients and when a Dr. calls to verify that is what they are to tell them. He took on 5 patients from the Dr. I was seeing me being one of them and he dropped all 5 patients. I am in my 40's I have never had to deal with this before. If anyone in AZ. can refer me to a Dr. that deals with high quantity opioids I am even willing to be lowered if I have to even changed to something else I don't care. I have very bad back problems along with other medical issues. I am trying to hold off on back surgery. If it helps I am on 200 mg Morphine 3 times a day and 30 mg oxycodone 12 a day. I would again greatly appreciate someone helping me find a Dr. that will understand my situation and take me on as a patient.

Hello, Gwen! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems that you're having.
I think part of the reason the new doctor might have dropped you may have been due to the quantities. The Morphine is usually only given twice a day and the Oxycodone 6 times a day, so both of them exceed the recommended daily maximum dosing. Those amounts are going to make most doctors balk, because unless someone is suffering intractable pain from cancer, they're going to get a lot of questions from the government about why they're prescribing so many.
Finding a new doctor could be complicated, if you're calling and asking them about prescribing such medications, doctors will view that as being drug seeking behavior and most will just tell you no.
Unfortunately, there are no listings of doctors according to what they will or will not prescribe that I can refer to for you.
Does anyone know of a good doctor in that area?
Did you ever find a Dr. I'm in the east valley, az. I'm looking for a Dr who will prescribe something stronger than Norco for lower back pain and fibromyalgia.
