Find A Doctor That Prescribes Methadone In Birmingham Al
UpdatedI'm looking for a doc that will prescribe methadone. I recently get a prescription for 70mg a day and when I went to get my last refill he told me I need to find a new doctor that he won't be able to prescribe me anymore because they are changing the law and for him to prescribe for pain management he had to be a PAIN specialist and then he would lose his mal practice so I'm in a huge bind. He's been prescribing me for almost 7 months and he said he would write me till the end of the year and that's it. Idk if he's lying or what the deal is. I can't afford clinics not to mention my work schedule won't allow it. Has anyone else heard of this and or know of a doctor in or around birmingham. Maybe you could also help with some information?

Yes, there are new regulations in place that strictly dictate what a general practitioner or surgeon can prescribe, why they can prescribe, how much they can prescribe and for how long they can prescribe it. So, your doctor is being honest with you, he really has no choice in the matter, if he doesn't want to lose his license to practice medicine.

Thus, that means that if you require such a medication for long-term pain management, you're going to have to see a pain specialist.
The best thing to do would be to ask your current doctor to refer you to someone. That will really be the best way to get a specialist to accept you as a patient and to ensure they get a full copy of your current medical records.
Does anyone know of any good doctors in that area?
